Donkey Kong: Thank you for the nice comment. It's nice to hear something nice for a change!! Everyone's so quick to point the finger when something doesn't go as they expect, but I takes a better person to acknowledge a good group of people when they see one.

It's very unfortunute that this error occured, but the club has admitted their error and have answered the questions that were asked. So let's move on.
Trish-The issue with club members being allowed to half track, I am assuming you are talking about the mini in the 0-150 pro class (Full Throttle) and 0-100 cc (Mineral Wells)? The bike that is being brought to everyone's attention is less then 100cc. This bike is beatable. All it's going to take, is someone to figure out and do the work to their mini that was done to this mini. Or to have a bigger cc bike enter the class (Full Throttle). I guess my solution to those who have an issue with being half tracked is for you to put your energy into doing the same research that this team has done to get the horsepower. It's no magic trick or high dollar part.
Joy is right. This is suppose to be a fun family event. Let race and have a great time with it. We all can't be winners everytime. ET does even the playing field (If you notice, the fasted bikes don't always win (0-100cc pro class) and heads up is for those that want to be the fasted on the track.

My point is that you all are suppose to have a club..you have club members that pay to be in your club so when making decisions it should be voted on as a club not just certain people making the decisions. If you would have voted on the class change,(that is changing it from 450 to 525 class) then their would not have been a problem in the first place. Your club members should have a say in all decisions. I've been told this by more than one of your club members so you may have less problems and more fun if the whole club is involved in decisions.
Yeah that lil bike can be beat...by a 450 or bigger....when that bike can win the 300 class and only be beat by a bike length by a 450 then it's hard to believe it is under 100cc but I really don't care...we go for fun...NOT THE DRAMA!!!
Sorry if I offened any of you, but come on people...if you wanna have fun and enjoy racing then be fair about it.
It's funny how people can hide behind screen names and run their mouth!!!

The problem is that some club members don't want to be part of the decision making. They just want to be members without the headaches. All of these issues will be brought up at the clubs annual meeting. Everyone has the opportunity to speak up and voice their opinions.
No, that little bike can be beat by anyother mini and will be. It's only a matter of time.
It sure does not sound like you have fun at these races.
I go to watch these races, so I am a concerned outsider. I'm not hiding anything. You wouldn't know me if you saw me.

Trish-I believe you care or you would not be expressing your anger about the 9 year old on the mini. Mineral Wells has a protest rule. All you have to do is put up the $$.
I will agree with you that all member should be part of the decision making along with the setup, registration, running of equipment, announcing, lining up classes and the tear down of the equipment before, during and after the races. Like I said before, there are a few members that just want to come race and go home. You have to be a member if you want to run for points. I believe that that's the only reason a few are members.

Okay, I was going to stay out of this because nothing can be done about it now, it is over, it was bad for everyone, Full Throttle, racers in all classes, fans ect. Please lets move on, I think we can work this out, the classes are not that far off of what they need to be so we are close, we just need to fix a couple things. We have had a lot of good races, one bad one and all is bad about the world??
As for the 9 year old on the mini, (My son) if anyone is that concerned that we are cheating please put up the money and protest the quad, I don't want anyone to think we are cheating. That is not the way to teach kids how to have good sportsmanship. The bike is 99.43cc I built it according to mineral wells rules when they first came out. I was told at the start, 100cc, stock frame, OEM engine for the frame but any modifications allowed beyond that. I had the quad already built when the rules were changed. The rule change was fine for me. I worked really hard on the quad to find the HP needed to win, last year he ran the same quad before I rebuilt it and hardly placed. I built this engine myself with some advice from a couple engine builders (not from around here). This quad is beatable, we are leaving some on the table at this point. I have been talking with the Moore boys dad and telling him everything I have done with this quad. Ask him if you don't believe me. I was asked by Dave Kinney at Tyler County Fair if someone wanted me to build an engine just like that one would I do it, My answer...absolutly, I want the racing to be close. Notice my daughters quad, barely pulling out 2nd. place, why would I do that to her bike and cheat on my son bike. Makes no sense...If we were cheating both quads would be equally fast. If you know anything about racing there is a formula that goes something like weight/horsepower ratio.... He is lite, the quad is lite, it has good power. Ever notice when the Moore's quad switched tires he got faster?? If wanting to win is a crime, well the whole High maintenance Race Team is guilty. We are sorry if we have offended anyone, that was not the intention of the quad. If I didn't want anyone to build a quad that will give us competition I would not have solicited the gift certificates for the mini quad Fair classes. Yes that was me rounding them up, we also pulled our kids from being eligible so we could help others...Sorry once again if we offended anyone.
Now all I can say is everyone wants to win, some will, some will loose, Just don't be a sore looser, nobody likes that.....
Let's race!!!!!

Concerned-- I do go to have fun and I had fun @ the athens race...I'm just expressing my concern about the rule change during a race. Other than that we enjoyed ourselves...we didn't win but we had fun trying and to me that's what it's about. And if you weren't hiding behind a screen name then you wouldn't call yourself Concerned!!! I'm sure that's not the name your momma gave you!!!
High Maintenance-- I have nothing against you all personally, in fact I really don't know you and I didn't say your bike wasn't legal. I simply was saying that I saw it win the 300 class and I saw it barely get beat by a 450. I'm not being a sore loser...we win some, we lose some...that's what racing is about to us and we know we can't win them all. But it does get pretty boring when you can call the race before you watch it.
I'm not sure why anyone would pay dues and not want to be part of the decision making, but if that's the case then they have no right complaining to others about decisions being made without their input.

as far as the decision being made the night of the fair race it was descussed among members that put the races on... we have 11 members that help with running the events 4 ( sign-up ) 1 ( running brackets/ announcing ) 6 ( track officials ) and the track officials voted and made the decision. and as hm stated nothing can be done so let it go..we will change the wording in the classes so hopefully we don't have this problem again.

Trish,
Glad to here you are not upset with us, I don't come to race to get people upset...The sore looser comment was not aimed at you or anyone directly, just thought it might make people think before complaining.....one must ask themselves...am I pointing out an issue because it is an unfair situation or am I sore that I got beat. Even I ask that of myself when I get frustrated....most of the time I lean toward the second one. If a situation is unfair others will take care of it for you most of the time....
As a club grows and get bigger people come and go, It is difficult to keep things the same as when you were small. That is just the way life goes. It's called growing pains, we all went through it at some point in our personal life. Full Throttle is going trough some of the same, we will have issues that arise that will be handled wrong in the future, I am sure of it. Experience is what you use when your put into situations that your unsure about, The unfortunate thing is we don't have much. We greatly appreciate those who stick with us through these times and continue to support the group. We have some awesome people who race with us and all we want is for everyone to have fun. I realize that at some point things don't go well and it is not fun for the racers but remember if you don't have fun we sure don't either. Our club needs to pull together and figure out some things and we will, I am sure of it. The club couldn't have made it this far without good people getting it off the ground.
Thanks for all your comments, both good and bad...we are listening and want to improve from them all.
Curt

For those who are concerned about the members voting on the rules: The Athens Fair has over 200 members (don't quote me on the numbers) but there are only 18 on the BOARD that make the decisions for the 200+. We are like that, there are several CLUB MEMBERS, but only 11 BOARD MEMBERS that make the rules (based on comments that we get from the annual meeting). Although we do have a few little problems (lack of communication) within ourselves, which we can work out, we are trying to make this a FAIR (evenly matched) family fun racing event.
With the ET racing it doesn't matter what you do to your ATV, it's how well you know it and you run it the same all of the time. With heads up it's who ever has put the most time and/or money into their ATV and made it produce the most HP, fastest bike wins.
We are a young club and are trying to work out the problems as we face them, but you all know, if you think you have got everything figured out nature throws you a new pitch. If we were all perfect and all built the perfect bikes, would we all tie at the end of the race. We are working to make this fun and if you take things to serious you lose all of the fun. When your a child life is fun, when you grow up and face all that life throws at you, you kind of lose that fun free life attitude. Let's have fun and not take things so serious and be big kids.

• Utility machines must be production ATV’s as intended by manufacturer, make, model, and year.
this is taken from the rule page, what is your determination of this, mine is 100% stock!

???Very true Grizz,Yours and possibly 1 other can am that I know for sure...But whats the catch???Look around every bike has somthing done to it CDI,PIPE,JETTING these are common things so are you saying it should only be you and another bike in your class???Not trying to be my usual dic self ,just trying to understand where your going .I think its understood that there needs to be MAJOR CHANGES in the rules and the running of the races all the way around ....But a handfull of members cant change the rules .......Running ETs it dosent matter what your bike is.All of my bikes were built for drag racing not et,thats why there built .........
