I've got an idea. Why don't you guys look around and see the one club that's survived for years and yes we all go there from time to time. They don't make everyone happy but low and behold they sure do pack in a full crowd as some of the shottiest tracks around. Nice and simple and yes of course the club stays together........... THEY HAVE FUN RACING. What a concept:)

The track in Grayson KY has been doing primarily ET racing for 15 years and they they have a big croud and they race every Sat. evening (weather permitting). They race ET and enjoy it, because it is an even race no matter what size bike you run (even golf carts)

wasn't trying to be a smartarse with the last comment.( maybe a little ) . just saying let anyone that is member come up with different ideas and try it and see what happens. i remember last year alot of complaining about bikes not belonging in certain classes so, e.t was brought to mind to try and make it possible for anyone to win. but now thats a problem?? just don't know what everyone wants i say at the end of the year at the awards banquet everyone that attends, that has suggestions needs to write it down and bring it. and we can have open discussions on any and all subjects ( pertaining to racing ;D ). then we could have votes to see what the racers want.. also i think we need to appoint some positions ( pres., vice pres., track crew, etc. etc. ) and try to get more of the racers involved..

I'm glad ET racing has worked out so well for Grayson but you can't say heads up hasn't worked out for mineral wells because hands down it's just plain fun and you're not there until 2AM. Either way I think its safe to say this season was a big ole mess and hopefully something happens before next season starts or doesn't start. Not out much either way

2 cents....I don't think it is fair to say the whole season was a big ole' mess....we had some problems but we will figure them out. We have a good following, the same as mineral wells. We had over 90 entries at Albany fair, almost 90 at Athens, we average close to 50 at Vinton County at most of our club races....if it was a mess no one would come race with us. Most racers have a lot of fun racing with us, just ask them. Of course there a few that are unhappy but hey, I am unhappy from time to time, doesn't mean the whole thing is a mess. I do have to give mineral wells kudos for having a club with good support for 15 years but I bet if you would take a good look at history they have had their problems too. They have just had more time to work them out. I know of a few people that will not race with them for different issues. Doesn't mean that they are doing it wrong, just some racers don't like it. Thats why there are different clubs and tracks with different rules.
All we are doing is trying to give the racers an opportunity to speak up and make suggestions. The "Chiefs" are not there to iron fist rules for everyone to follow, they are there to enforce rules that the club (racers) want to have. There will be safety rules that we will have no choice but to enforce. If the perception is that the "chiefs" made rules/classes without input I believe that is not true, other then that everyone wants the same thing, from the "chiefs" to the brand new racer, a good fun family event to have fun with.
The lights will not be sold, the club will continue, the "chiefs" are not arguing among themselves, the racing is and will continue to expand and will continue to be fun for all, well I should say the ones that want to make it fun.
My vote is to have a couple different types of racing, E.T., Index, Heads Up, doesn't matter to me I have fun doing it all and enjoy all the personalities of all types of racers. We could have two points series, we can have days of racing that we run both E.T. and heads up on the same day, there are a lot of options, and we will figure it out.
Scrowdog, you are right, there is a lot of high money machines at Ky, but we watched a plain 500 sportsman utility win the junior class, a junk yard 90 that has no more than 300 invested in it win the pee wee, a raptor get in the top 5, a Yamaha 450 win. A couple of those had a little money in them, but not near as much as money as the ones they put on the trailer the first few rounds. I am with you I really like heads up racing, but if I want to tell the whole truth to that, it's probably because we win. I cant wait to win at some E.T. races because I really like racing E.T, but because I have not won one yet it is of course not my favorite, but I love a challenge, to me thats what racing is all about, the challenge.
I remember some quotes that read something like this
The ones that seem to have the best of everything really may not, they just make the best of what they have
Fun is in the eye of the beholder
People who live in glass houses should not throw stones
I posted before in another thread, Are we upset because it is not fair, or are we upset because we didn't win?? That is a very thin line that I struggle with. If it really isn't fair, it will probably fix it's self. Chances are if it isn't fair for you it probably isn't fair others as well.
Keep the positive comments flowing, believe it or not it helps!

I agree with highmaintenance and to add one thing, we saw golf carts win several rounds against big bikes before they finally got beat out. It is all in knowing your bike and how it runs and running it the same way every time, which may be why some riders doesn't like ET racing, they don't take the time to get to know their bike, just want to race fast.
Thanks scrowdog, but just remember, Candie usually gets second or third with her stock Polaris 500. She has been wanting something that will compete in the open class, so we thought we would take a chance on it and see where it goes.
In the comments that I have made in the past about some not being able to go out and spend money to go bigger wasn't necessarily about my wife and I, I try to look at everyone else and not so much at myself. There are a lot out there that doesn't have jobs but still like to have some fun on the weekends and losing very weekend is not much fun when you cannot afford to go out and buy a bigger bike. ET racing does give everyone out there an even shot at winning (no matter what size bike they have), just by getting to know their bike and ride it consistently.

Who is my 2 cents? I have to assume it's a mineral wells person.
I will say this...full throttle is growing. These are growing pains but also there is alot of people that would love to see it fail. I personally think those people are doing a good job causing conflict where there shouldn't be conflict. You guys are doing great. Keep going forward....changes will be made but changes can be good. Main thing is fun. I personally can say I race with full throttle because of the people. It's full of great people that would do anything for anyone.
One thing I would like to see if for you guys to get more heads up fair races. Let's expand....lol

Spoke to mace gave him an idea that just may be the best of both worlds for all concerened. If he thinks its worth while to bring it to the table for discusion Im sure he will. I think it would take care of the hard core heads up people and still please the stockers....Yes donk its a growing but expanding no ,or at least not the way your wanting too.I know where you want to expand on and stepping on toes is not the way .....As far as needing positions thru the organization YES ........I think thats a great idea,we as a club set the rules and have one person as pres to enforce the rules.I personally would like to see a no BS kinda person that will stand strong and not bend like a willow tree branch. On another note have you guys noticed your biggest turnouts has been with heads up racing........ Just my 2 cents..lol

my 10 cents is i like the idea of half the races being ET and the other half being Heads Up, because that way it gives every1 their favorite way of racing for the year. i think the no wheelie bar is a BAD idea because it is drag racing and that means speed and a wheelie bar is a safety aspect no matter the bike. and no stock frame, um ok i thought we were drag racing but what ever?

Saying that the biggest turnouts has been at heads up races is not being really fair, since they are all fair events and that is a big draw in itself. If we were to run ET racing at the fairs then you couldn't say that, but it is easier to run heads up then to try and explain to new comers what ET racing is all about. If we had the time I believe they would like index racing even better (being more evenly matched in times).

Lets see some nominations for positions. I agree ALL OUT,go ahead and start it out nominate yourself so we know just who you are ;) carr I agree with you newbees would not understand et ,I have a hard time with it as well....Index is the way to go I beleive, with a class of heads up to boot.Reason being the ones that wanna run balls out are builders we all run in the 5's and better that way we have CHOICES since the built bikes are not consistant. You dont wanna build stay in the index class es,but if your a power junkie or just wanna see how fast you can go then well youve got a place to let it all hang out...This I feel is growth you cant please all the people all the time ,we found that out but I think you can please the majority of the people with this plan.
