Donk,
I understand your point very well, there are a lot of classes. The only reason we are even running heads up racing is because of the races we put on at other tracks, such as fair races. There is not a lot of time to have these races, normally the schedule is real tight for the evening. A lot of the people that show up at these races are strictly "single event racers" meaning they only will race at the fair for fun. Nothing wrong with that, but that has been the way it has generally gone in the past. I for one do not feel there is enough time to do time trials and then have the race when we have so many racers show up to race. We have averaged around 80 entries at these races. The idea to have a point series for heads up racing was to try to get more to follow the club to other races. If we did not do these races we would most likely go with index and ET racing at our home track. That is the only way to make racing close, but some still choose not to do those types of racing. You are exactly right, there may only be 2 bikes in a class, I know it may not be interesting to some but others will like it. It might take a little longer to get through the race with so many classes but not much more, 80 entries is 80 entries 10 or 20 classes. I figure we will not run all the classes every race for lack of racers to make the class. But they are offered if anyone shows up anyway. It boils down to what Hawk 450 said, we need to offer the heads up racing to offset yearly expenses.
I have chosen to stay off the board because of the CRAP! that has been going on in here and quite frankly it is doing us more harm than good at this point and I don't want to get anymore stuff going.
Donk, you mentioned you would help with index racing, if you are interested we could use you help at any race, it take a lot of time and effort to pull this off and any help is truly appreciated.
